Conditions for obtaining service

  • The provisions below are applied on governorate centers (Amman, Zarqa, Irbid) as for the remaining governorate centers, the distance is determined between one laboratory and the other with 50 meters.
  • The laboratory manager should hold a permit of profession practicing in medical laboratory.
  • The area of the laboratory should not be less than 60 square meters.
  • The distance to the nearest existing medical laboratory should not be less than 150 meter in commercial areas.
  • The distance to the nearest existing medical laboratory should not be less than 250 meter in central residential areas.
  • If there is a medical complex with four clinics, the distance between the medical complexes should not be less than 50 meter.
  • If there is 6 clinics 5 of them are specialized clinics in the medical complex, the distance condition is cancelled.

Procedures

  1. Referring to Health Institutions Licensing Department and showing the letter of the Ministry of Industry and Trade to verify the purpose.
  2. Referring to the register of the Health Professions and Institutions Licensing Directorate and showing the letter and its attachments, and documenting and giving it an import number.
  3. Transferring the application to the director of the Health Professions and Institutions Licensing Directorate to review and transfer it the Health Institutions Licensing Department.
  4. Health Institutions Licensing Department prepares an official letter addressed to the Ministry of Industry and Trade with approval on registering the purpose, and providing the applicant with the required documents and conditions to license the laboratory according to the private medical laboratory licensing regulation no. 30 of 2003 and its amendments.
  5. The applicant fills a licensing form and attaches the required documents.
  6. Scheduling an appointment to conduct the first inspection by the committee of medical laboratories licensing (inspecting the location and area), and preparing a report (with approval on the location and area).
  7. Preparing the approval official letter of the location and the area of the laboratory based on the report and submissions of the committee of private laboratories.
  8. The applicant submits a requisition to conduct a second inspection that includes the readiness of the laboratory (devices, equipment, interior sections).
  9. Scheduling an appointment for a second inspection by the committee of medical laboratories licensing to ensure the readiness of the laboratory (devices, equipment, and interior sections).
  10. Delivering the applicant, the approval signed by the Minister to licensing and work commencement. 

Required Documents

  1. An official letter of the Ministry of Industry and Trade/ to register the purpose of establishing a medical laboratory.
  2. Copy of the lease contract duly certified or title deed.
  3. Organizational location plan.
  4. Area plan of the site.
  5. Land plan.
  6. Copy of the commercial register and trade name.
  7. Copy of practicing professions permit in medical laboratories for the manager.
  8. Copy of the manager’s license of managing a medical laboratory.
